Brighton have added former Tottenham Hotspur youth striker Daniel Akindayini to our Development Squad for the coming 2015-16 campaign.

The 19 year old joins us on a free transfer following his release by the White Hart Lane outfit and he will now team up with Simon Rusk’s under 21 squad for pre season training.

He joined us on trial towards the end of last season, making a good impression, but in 2014-15 he had played in the majority of their Development Squad games as well.

For us when he arrived on trial, he featured in the games against Arsenal and Aston Villa and has now put pen to paper on a development contract – the second to do so this summer following the arrival of Joe Ward to our under 21 ranks from Chelmsford City last month.

Speaking to the Official Site after completing his move, the player explained that he believed Brighton’s passing style would really suit his natural game.

‘I`m really happy to sign because it`s a great club. Having left Tottenham, it would`ve been quite difficult to find a club that has a similar style, but I believe Brighton do. I`m pleased that I have found a team which suits the way I play and hopefully I can go on to do good things here.’

Speaking about himself as a player and what he feels he can bring to our Development Squad in the future, he added.

‘I am a striker that can play in between and behind defenders. I’m also someone who is comfortable playing on the floor and do a bit of passing to break down defences. I hope that I can be a big threat and show that this year. Everyone wants to play in the first team, so it was a big bonus that the gaffer gives chances to young players.’
