Albion may be set to boost their summer transfer budget, depending on the future of ex-winger Elliott Bennett.

Now at Premier League Norwich, the 24-year-old has recently been subject to speculation linking him with Aston Villa, where his former manager Paul Lambert is now in charge.

A switch to the Villa Park club would likely see Bennett increase his playing time next season – following a stop-start campaign under Chris Hughton – whilst also edging back closer to his Midlands-based family.

And Albion would be in line for a percentage of any fee, having inserted a sell-on clause into initial £1.5m deal that saw the popular player depart for Carrow Road back in 2011.

Bennett is due to feature at the Amex on his Sussex return as Albion take on Norwich in their final pre-season fixture on 30th July.
