But Brighton were able to get a Rajiv van La Parra deal over the line before the 5pm deadline.

The Official Website announced this deal after the emergency loan window closed but an agreement was reached before this so his short-term deal with Albion will take him through until the New Year.

Chris Hughton wasn’t ruling out a late loan move and you can see why after Brighton signed Wolves’ La Parra on loan until 2nd January, however he’ll have to sit out the meeting with his parent club on New Years Day so in effect this only runs until the end of the year.

With Kazenga LuaLua still working his way back to fitness after long spell out injured and Sam Baldock sidelined by a recent injury against former club MK Dons some cover was needed by Hughton.

Explaining the move the Brighton boss said.

‘With Sam Baldock currently injured and Kazenga LuaLua having missed the amount of games he has, we have been very keen to bring in offensive options.

‘In Rajiv we have a player who was a regularly featured in Wolves’ promotion chase last season.

‘He will give us pace and creativity in the forward areas, and supplements our existing wide options. He is something different to the players we already have here, and I am delighted to have him on board.’

La Parra might have been a regular last season but he’s only made seven appearances for Wolves this term, the last on which came back in October – if this is injury related, or he’s simply been ‘out of favour’, I couldn’t say?

What I do know for sure is the former Dutch U21 international could make his Albion debut against Birmingham on Saturday when they come to the Amex Stadium.
