The Mirror has reported Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom is set to come to the Amex Stadium on loan until the end of the season.
Chris Hughton is keen to add extra firepower to the Brighton promotion bid to get Albion over the line this time with a loan move for the Arsenal striker being explored.
Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest in Akpom – who spent last season on loan with Hull under then boss Steve Bruce who is now at Villa – but it’s been claimed Brighton have agreed a deal that will be signed off ahead of the transfer deadline.
In fact the Mirror was actually reporting a deal for the 21 year old would be signed off today! Which hasn’t yet been the case.
During his spell with Hull Akpom didn’t always command a regular first team spot under Bruce so linking up with him at Villa Park would seem a bit strange?
He’s proven in the Championship though from his time at the KCOM Stadium and another brief loan spell with Nottingham Forest so would make a good addition to the Brighton squad.
