Brighton are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Sam Baldock in the two nil victory over Barnsley at the weekend at Oakwell was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Baldock was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Brighton are back at the Sky Bet Championship summit, with Sam Baldock named the EFL Star of the Day after his brace in the win at Barnsley. The striker hit two second-half goals for the Seagulls to ensure Chris Hughton’s 100th game in charge would be a memorable one.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Baldock for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Matt Gilks (Wigan Athletic), Cian Bolger (Fleetwood Town), Tin Plavotic (Cheltenham Town), Jorge Teixeira (Charlton Athletic), Kadeem Harris (Cardiff City), Piero Mingoia (Cambridge United), Chris Clements (Grimsby Town), Reggie Lambe (Carlisle United), Sam Baldock (Brighton), Jon Stead (Notts County), Paul Mullin (Morecambe).

Manager – Lee Clark (Bury).
