Ahead of the game on Tuesday evening against Reading, Brighton have revealed that Sam Baldock could be out for the remainder of the season.

The 25 year old limped out of the two nil victory over Derby County last midweek and assessments so far have shown ligament damage in his knee, so it is likely season over for him sadly.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Chris Hughton explained.

‘It’s incredibly disappointing for Sam and ourselves. Sam has been a regular in the team in the period of time that I`ve been here, and although he`s not playing in his natural position, he`s done a great job there and been able to chip in with goals.’

Hughton goes on to say that the player doesn’t require surgery though, it’s just the correct treatment, rest and rehabilitation that’s required and the focus will be now on ensuring that he comes back fit and raring to go for pre season.

Baldock has started all but two games since Hughton took charge of the club replacing Sami Hyypia, and in that time he’s scored three times.

In total this season he’s scored four times in 22 appearances.
