Striker Sam Baldock was delighted to open the scoring and set us on our way to victory in the weekend’s match against Reading.

Having opened the scoring before Jamie Murphy and Anthony Knockaert turned the match into a three nil victory, Baldock also hit the woodwork in the game that saw his eleventh goal of the season go in, and the 27 year old was delighted to see his name up in lights once more and he certainly had praise for the performance of the team.

Speaking to the Official Site in his own post game press conference, a delighted Baldock spoke about his goal to begin with.

‘I like that one because it was more of a striker`s movement goal. It was quite an important goal because they were the team on top. I glanced at Bruno, he looked at me and I knew what was coming. With the quality that he`s got, I knew where he was going to put it. I lost it slightly in the lights, but as it came back into focus, I managed to bring it down with my foot and use the defender behind me as somebody that I could fall onto and shoot.’

With the victory sending us back to the top of the Championship table, Baldock was full of praise for the continuing efforts of his colleagues this season because it was a tough game against Reading but we kept our shape and focus throughout the game to limit their opportunities nicely.

‘It was obviously a big game and there had been a lot of build up, but nothing changed from our perspective. It was very pleasing to get the three points. Although we were very comfortable in our shape, they were very comfortable on the ball and dominated the game for a lot of the time. They were going to have long spells of possession, so we knew we`d have to stay solid and be hard to beat. They`re a really good side, so it was good to get my goal and win the game. Tuesday`s game (Newcastle) is going to be no different. They`ve got some fantastic players, especially at this level, and we`re looking forward to pitting our wits against a good team.’

Baldock ended his interview by praising the support of the fans once more, insisting it really does make a difference for the players across 90 minutes.

‘The crowd can definitely channel their excitement in a way that can help us, they were great today. They get behind us, become that extra man at the Amex, and the away support has never doubted us either. It`s an exciting place, but we`ve got to make sure that the 11 players on the pitch at the time are focused on the job in hand.’
