Barne’s Stunner Nicks A Point

Well what can I add to my half time mauling of a very inept Brighton today; after Ritchie put Bournemouth in front it never really looked likely that the Albion would pull the deficit back.

Step up to the plate Ashley Barnes, from a situation wide in the penalty area, Barnes shielded and shuffled the ball onto his left foot and hit a shot that 20 keepers wouldn’t have been able to stop and remarkably we were back in it.

To be honest we didn’t improve much and the home side were constantly looking dangerous but with Conway finally realising the game had kicked off, he started to get to the line and put some decent crosses in; however with Caskey substituted there was nobody arriving in the box to get on the end of them.

In my preview I said I hoped it wasn’t ‘one of those games’ and I must be psychic because it was one of those games tenfold.
Bournemouth keeper Camp was fortunate not to give away a penalty when he elbowed Barnes in the face after catching a corner and Upson was fortunate to only see yellow when crashing into goal scorer Ritchie in stoppage time.

All in all a very poor performance that we robbed a point from with Barnes stunning strike.

Plus points are the return of Bridcutt and Orlandi as subs in the second half, although Orlandi especially understandably looked very rusty.
