It’s been reported that Brighton tabled an offer for Blackburn’s Republic of Ireland international centre half Shane Duffy, but that was quickly dismissed.

The Argus now report that we have gone in with a second and improved offer for the player owing to our defensive injury crisis at the moment – and with being so close to the Championship kick off this year.

Blackburn have just lost Grant Hanley to relegated Newcastle United and they also have injury concerns of their own which is only complicating any potential deal.

With 12 months left on his deal at Ewood Park there could be a conclusion in sight, but potentially for more than we wanted to pay, but a fee that enables them to deal quickly in the market themselves possibly.
