Brighton Chairman, Tony Bloom has confirmed that winger Elliott Bennett has handed in a transfer request.

Bloom has reiterated his stance that Bennett will remain at the club ‘Nothing has changed. We do not want to sell Elliott, we dont need to sell the player

Gus Poyet has said on record before that he will sell players that no longer wish to play for the club, and Bennett handing in a transfer request will test his resolve.

The transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday 31st January, and Bloom expects Bennett to still be the club when that deadline has passed. Norwich City and Burnely are set to start a bidding was for the winger who has 4 goals and 21 assists to his name this season.

Brighton have already rejected a £1million offer from The Canaries during this transfer window, and will try and fend off any upped bids before Monday’s deadline.
