Chairman Tony Bloom and manager Chris Hughton have been recognised by the Council and made freeman of the city this week.

On Thursday afternoon the pair were recognised for their contributions to the city at a special council meeting following our promotion into the Premier League this season.

Speaking to the Official Site after receiving the award, Bloom dedicated the award to all the staff at the club and the fans.

‘I`m feeling great. We`ve been on a high for the last three of four weeks now and this award is very unexpected. It`s a tribute to our amazing staff at the football club and the wonderful fans we have. The first I heard of it was when the leader of the council talked about it and it was in the Argus the day after the Wigan game. I then got the formal invitation; it was unexpected and I am hugely honoured to receive this.’

Hughton said himself.

‘Firstly, it`s not something that I expected. It`s not very often that an award or an honour like this comes around. It`s just a feel of what the club means to the city and what the city means to the club. It`s a huge honour, but also a very humbling one as well.’

Congratulations to both.
