Brighton took a step closer to promotion as they eased to a 4-0 over bottom side Plymouth Argyle.

Two goals from Glenn Murray, including his 50th for Brighton, Chris Wood and Fran Sandaza gave Brighton 3 points as the rest of the chasing pack failed to win.

Brighton’s lead extended to four points, with three games in hand over second placed Bournemouth.

Brighton created a lot of chances, with former Argyle striker, Ashley Barnes missing three great chances. Plymouth looked spirited in the first 20 minutes, but once Brighton scored the opener through Murray’s empathic shot, there was no looking back.

Wood scored a fortunate second with a shot from 30 yards, but Murray’s second was smashed into the top corer after rolling the defender on the edge of the area.

Francisco Sandaza wrapped things up in injury time to give Brighton a 4-0 win without being their absolute best.
