Brighton’s Championship season continued with a draw against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

If Brighton are to go up along with Burnley and Middlesbrough it’ll be via the play-offs now with Albion’s one-one draw at Boro meaning they went up as runners up so we’ll face Sheffield Wednesday.

Middlesbrough took a 19th-minute lead though Cristhian Stuani as he finished off Gaston Ramirez’s freekick that David Nugent turned across the goal for him to tap home.

Dale Stephens’ header had Brighton level early in the second half but four-minutes later he then saw red for a poor challenge on Ramirez with Middlesbrough able to see out the eight-minutes of injury-time.

We’ll hope to make it third time lucky in the play-offs and end our 33-year spell outside of the topflight.

Here’s a round up of the Championship action from the other games played at the weekend….

These were the other results.

Saturday 7th May 2016
Blackburn 3-1 Reading
Cardiff 1-1 Birmingham
Charlton 0-3 Burnley
Derby 0-1 Ipswich
Fulham 1-0 Bolton
Huddersfield 1-5 Brentford
Hull 5-1 Rotherham
Middlesbrough 1-1 Brighton
MK Dons 1-2 Nottm Forest
Preston 1-1 Leeds
QPR 1-0 Bristol City
Wolves 2-1 Sheff Wed

The only issue to be decided on the final day of the season was who would finish in the second automatic promotion spot.

Middlesbrough (one-one) were the side to do this with a draw against Brighton at the Riverside Stadium meaning Boro are back in the Premier League as runners up with the Seagulls now needing to pick themselves up for the play-offs.

I say the ‘only’ issue to be decided was the second place!

Of course that wasn’t true was it as Burnley (three-nil) were already promoted but still wanted the title with the Clarets confirmed as Champions with a win at relegated Charlton.

Brentford and Hull (five-one) ended the season with convincing wins at Huddersfield and as hosts to Rotherham (respectively) with the Bees likely to wish the season wasn’t ending whereas the Tigers go into the play-offs with a boost.

Now we await the play-offs semi-finals as the final side heading into the topflight is decided.
