Brighton Fans Shouldn’t Expect New Year Presents According To This Man

Although all eyes should be on Saturday’s Premier League clash with Huddersfield Town, Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton was tasked with January transfer window questions at his pre-game press conference on Thursday.

Brighton sit in 12th place in the top-flight table as we go into this weekend’s clash and with mixed form for us, it could be an interesting tie.

Quoted by Sky Sports, Hughton explained that he was happy with the squad as it was and he didn’t feel there was much tinkering needed as we look to improve results.

Therefore, he wasn’t expecting a busy January window and neither should fans and he and the Board are in agreement.

“We have thought about January but I don’t see too much happening, if I am looking at the squad and where we are at the moment. We have players that have come in over the summer, and players that have not been here that long, possibly (arrived in) January, that are still developing, still pushing, still looking for opportunities. We are very happy with the numbers we have got in the squad. If there is any business done in January, I see that being very minimal.”

With increased rumour mill speculation about potential departures, whilst there seems to be little truth to them at the moment should interest firm up that would, of course, change our plans, but with new contracts signed by Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy we are in a stronger position there to resist offers and keep a far more settled squad.

As Hughton says himself, he knows there are improvements to be made and he feels this group can improve and players can get better.
