Brighton Get The Go Ahead For Wigan Centre-Half Transfer

|

Speculation in recent days suggested that with Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton struggling to capture additional cover in the heart of defence, with moves for his presumed first choice targets commanding ridiculous fees for what would be back up players for us, that Wigan Athletic’s Dan Burn had become a possible option.

Sky Sports have reported this afternoon that talks about the 26-year-old player have gone well with his parent club and their sources believe that we have struck a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee for his services.

The terms of the deal they speculate will see him move to us on a permanent basis, but he will be immediately loaned back to the DW Stadium until January at least to give them a chance to strengthen themselves moving forward.

Depending on how life goes in the first half of the 2018/19 campaign, there is always the possibility of loaning him out for the entire campaign to ensure he continues to receive regular first team action as well.

If this deal comes off, he will become our eleventh capture of the summer so far (if I’ve kept count correctly!) and he would join us having made 95 appearances, with seven goals returned, during his time at Wigan having joined them back in 2016 as a free agent.
