Brighton this week confirmed two further friendlies for our pre season warm up to the 2017/18 campaign in the Premier League.
We head to Spain to face La Liga newbies Girona at the Nou Estadi Municipal de Palamos on Tuesday August 1 with kick off set for 8pm local time. Brighton fans can pay on the day and prices will be confirmed in due course.
Girona’s own Estadi Montilivi is being upgraded at the moment as they go into their first ever season in the top division in the country, and the host stadium is just over an hour’s drive north from Barcelona.
Following this game we face Atletico Madrid in the previously announced friendly at the Amex ahead of the big kick off against Manchester City.
The game should see us line up against former striker Francesco Sandaza as he’s now with Girona. He arrived from Dundee United back in the summer of 2010 before moving on a year later, making four starting appearances for the club with a further 15 appearances from the bench. In that time he returned four goals, including an all important strike off the bench against Oldham Athletic in a two one victory that put us top of the table, seeing him leave after 12 months with a League One winners medal.
The club have also announced a friendly during our pre season training camp out in Austria. Whilst Chris Hughton and the boys are out there in July, we will face Bundesliga 2 side Fortuna Dusseldorf at the Sportsplatz St Ulrich – home of FC St Ulrich am Pillersee, on Friday July 14 with the game kicking off at 6pm local time.
The stadium capacity is restrictive but ticket information will be announced in due course.
