Brighton yesterday completed a move for Dutchman Davy Propper from PSV Eindhoven.
The 25 year old has signed a new four year deal at the Amex Stadium and whilst the fee is undisclosed, it is a new record transfer spend for the club.
With more than 250 games in Holland, he also boasts Champions League and international appearances to is name, and he’s returned 43 goals from midfield in that time.
He helped PSV to a league title win in his first full season at the club back in 2015/16 after signing from Vitesse Arnhem.
Speaking to the Official Site manager Chris Hughton said of our latest capture.
‘Davy is a player with great experience of the Eredivisie with Vitesse Arnhem and PSV Eindhoven. There is no doubting his pedigree, Davy has played a number of matches in the Champions League for PSV, as well as international football for the Netherlands. He’s a strong competitor as a central midfielder and will complement our existing midfield players, and he is also a really good age at 25; we are absolutely delighted to welcome him to the club.’
Speaking himself after doing the deal, Propper explained that he was relishing the chance of testing himself in the Premier League now.
“It`s the biggest competition in the world, so this will be a great challenge and I think I`m ready for it. I know Danny Holla, who played here a few years ago, and he told me a lot about the club. He was very complimentary and that was a big help. The club showed me a film, so I know quite a few things about the club and city already. Not every club in Holland has a good stadium, and I really like the one here.”
He added.
“Zidane was my big idol when I was younger. I like to get into the box and score goals. I think that`s one of my strengths and I hope I can continue to do that for Brighton.”
