Obviously in the longer-term James Wilson (would hope anyway) to have Man United as his focus but at this stage the Brighton loanee, and rightly so, says he’s ‘fully focused’ on doing what he does best for Albion….

Scoring goals!

Chris Hughton, as we know, has already praised Wilson following his contribution at the weekend with him backed, with regular football at the Amex Stadium at Championship level to improve and show himself to be ‘a wonderful addition’ to the squad.

Wilson started the Brighton fightback against Charlton on Saturday with his first goal since arriving on loan, his parent club on the other hand (for fifth time in nine-matches) failed to score in a nil-nil with West Ham in the Premier League.

It’s only one goal so no one should be getting carried away but there’s been some talk, in the wake of the ongoing goalscoring issues United have, he could be recalled to Old Trafford?

This is something Wilson feels is possible, as a recall clause is in place, but he told Sky Sports, when asked if he feels he ‘made a point’ to Louis van Gaal with his goal, and if he could return, he’s just looking to do what he was brought to Albion to do with this his sole focus.

‘I don’t know, I’m here to score goals. I’m here for Brighton.

‘I’m here for the manager and for the fans, so my full focus is on Brighton. It’s one of them, I’m here for the season, I think I can be recalled anyway, but if I’m not needed then I can show my worth at Brighton.’

Having broken his duck, which he was obviously happy to do, he now feels more goals will follow.

Wilson also added he feels the Brighton style of play will suit him as he looks to help Albion to promotion.

‘The first goal is the hardest, I’m glad to be off the mark. It was an amazing feeling to score and to come back from 2-0 down.

‘It’s a different style, you can see that when you watch the games. It’s a lot more frantic and end-to-end stuff, which will probably play more into my hands. Hopefully I can get more goals and we can push for promotion.’

I can’t see van Gaal, even though I’ve been wrong before and will be again, recalling him this season as he doesn’t seem the type to ‘admit he was wrong’ and, in a way, he would be doing that if he brought him back with many surprised he was allowed to leave Man United in the first place!
