Brighton Secure Seventh Signing – This Man Has A Point To Prove Given Behaviour So Far

|

On Friday evening we had a second, albeit much anticipated, announcement from Brighton and Hove Albion, Percy Tau has entered the building.

After an incredibly long and drawn out saga, the 24-year-old South African international has finally signed a four-year deal at the Amex Stadium but fans won’t see much of him as he will be loaned out immediately owing to work permit purposes. Tau will soon leave the building.

Tau has something to prove for me, the nonsense behaviour in terms of going on strike at Mamelodi Sundowns as he tried to force a move, and the political-esque ramblings and lies of his agent trying to pretend that Brighton were the party leaking information to the press – well, he doesn’t start his Brighton career well in my eyes.

But it’s down to him to make up for that and show it was warranted as he was desperate to join us and the best way of doing that is by working his backside off now. For those as cynical as me given the state of the modern game, we can quickly be won over.

Mainly because manager Chris Hughton believes in him.

“Percy is a player we have highlighted for the future, and there is no doubting his talent, having been voted South African player of the season. Percy will go out on loan this season, play regularly and get some experience of European football. We will be watching his progress and monitoring his development over the season.”

Over to you – make me swallow my words!
