Brighton have confirmed the signing of Leyton Orient forward Steven Alzate, and we have also confirmed that Ben White has headed to Newport County on a loan spell.

Beginning with Alzate, he arrives to link up with Under 23 coach Simon Rusk and he has penned a three year deal.

Capable of operating on either wing or through the middle he joins for an undisclosed fee and the 18 year old made 12 appearances for Orient in the League Two campaign last year.

Speaking to the Official Site Rusk explained.

‘We are delighted to welcome Steven into the squad. He is someone who did well to break into the Leyton Orient first team from their academy last season, and adds a new dimension to our attacking options.’

Departing our Under 23 group is youngster White.

He as headed to Rodney Parade for a spell with Newport and he’ll remain with them for the entire 2017/18 season as he gains valuable experience.

The 19 year old was a regular at Under 23 level last season, and Rusk believes it’s the right step at the right time for him.

‘This loan move is a good one for Ben, and it`s the right time in his personal development to experience senior football. He has already had a taste of first-team action here, and this gives him an opportunity to develop his game even further.’

White made his first team debut for Chris Hughton in the EFL Cup tie against Oxford last season and he also featured against Colchester in the same competition. He took in three further games in the EFL Trophy.
