Brighton Skipper Not Set For Arsenal Move Anymore

|

Speculation linking Brighton and Hove Albion stand-in skipper and centre-half Lewis Dunk to Arsenal isn’t entirely new on the rumour mill.

The rumours surfaced quite a while ago in recognition of his continued good performance for Chris Hughton as we secured promotion from the Championship and then consolidated our position in the Premier League.

It was believed Arsene Wenger was keeping a close eye on him as he looked to strengthen an Arsenal defence that has long been a sore subject for Gunners, but Wenger’s departure and the arrival of Unai Emery is now said to have scuppered those plans – much to the delight of Brighton fans.

The Mirror have claimed that Dunk is now set to see out the 2018/19 season with us and the 26-year-old has been informed that Arsenal will not be making a bid for him.

With Brighton highly unlikely to sell him to a rival as we continue to establish ourselves in the top-flight, Arsenal’s presumed distancing can only be a good thing from our point of view. He is contracted up until 2022 following the last contract extension he signed so, hopefully, he’ll be with us for a number of years to come.
