Chris Hughton is looking to add FC Ingolstadt 04 defender Markus Suttner to the Brighton squad ahead of the Premier League season, reports Sky Sports.
According to the understanding of Sky sources, Brighton have been knocked back with the initial bid for Suttner but this hasn’t put Albion off – talks are ongoing with the Bundesliga club.
Capped 18 times for Austria, Suttner has been at Ingolstadt for the past two years having joined the German side from Austria Vienna in 2015, where he had made over 200 appearances in his homeland.
Having already signed a right back, Celtic’s Josh Kerr, Hughton could further boost the full back area if an agreement can be reached for the left back, who could become Brighton’s fourth summer signing.
As well as Kerr, Albion has also signed midfielder Pascal Gross, a former teammate of Suttner at Ingolstadt, and Valencia’s Australian international goalkeeper Mathew Ryan.
