A signing from Charlton on a five year deal a couple of years back, Liverpool’s Joe Gomez has been limited during his time at Anfield owing to a knee injury, which kept him out for 15 months.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp still holds Gomez in high regard by all accounts but the central defender, who can also play at right back, could undertake a loan next season and Brighton are one of those hopeful of bringing him to the Amex Stadium, according to the Argus.
Gomez, 20, who made his first team debut for Charlton as a 17 year old, would arguably have the best chance of regular football at Brighton but any exit, assuming he does leave Liverpool on loan, will be made after Klopp ‘weighs up his best option.’
Fresh from a highly successful loan at Bristol City last season, another temporary exit would be anticipated for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, another being linked with Brighton.
Newcastle are also in for the England U21 international, who will soon look to guide his country to success at the European Championships, with it now seen as a straight shootout between Rafa Benitez’s side and Brighton, much like last season when the Magpies edged out Albion. Will they again?
Abraham himself doesn’t know where he’ll go, if there’s a loan to be had at all.
Quoted by the Argus he said: ‘I’m not sure what I’m doing next season, if I’m coming back, going elsewhere on loan or staying at Chelsea. I haven’t decided yet. You have to stay open and things may come at different times but I have to dream big and that’s what I’m going to be doing.’
Could we see one or both of these future England internationals at the Amex next season? Few would be that likely to argue against it if possible.
