Inigo Calderon has said he’s expecting the game tonight against Derby County to be an open affair really with both teams going for victory.

With us playing the Championship leaders and wanting a reaction from our one nil loss to Bolton Wanderers at the weekend, Calderon told the Official Site that the players did have a point to prove following our three nil defeat earlier in the season but it was of course going to be an incredibly difficult game.

‘I like them because they try to play football and try to score that first goal. Some teams come here just to defend and park the bus. I think it’s going to be a good one to watch, because both teams want to win games. They have a formidable squad, not just the starting eleven but the whole squad. Playing against them away from home was our worst game this season, but now we are at home and in this division anyone can beat anyone.’

With Calderon being in a bit of a rich vein of form when it comes to goalscoring exploits of late – he has scored three times in two home appearances – he knows nobody can be complacent though, certainly him, because if he steps off the gas he knows the gaffer Chris Hughton will bring somebody else in.

‘The goals are not important for me at all. I’ve been playing a bit higher so I have more chances to score. That doesn’t affect what I am doing, the most important thing is to try to keep that position in the team. If the gaffer says you are playing again that’s because you are doing well. We are on a good run, it doesn’t matter that we lost the last game. We deserved to get something from the game and we are in a good way.’

Calderon ends by building on that saying we aren’t losing the games we lose four or five nil, they are narrow odd goal losses in recent times so that does show improvement and show that we are in those matches and we just need that bit more in those games to turn them into points for us.
