Could Ben Arfa’s horrific double leg break cost Brighton dear?
BRIGHTON’S hopes of keeping Kazenga LuaLua for the whole season took a blow yesterday after Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa suffered a double leg break during Sundays 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City. Ben Arfa suffered the injury after a strong tackle from Nigel De Jong, of World Cup Final horror tackle fame.
It is possible that Ben Arfa maybe sent back to his Parent Club, Marseille, meaning that Newcastle will be short of wingers for the rest of the season. LuaLua is on loan with Brighton until December 31st, with Poyet keen to extend his stay until the end of the season.
An extension to the loan deal could still be on the cards, but it could mean yet another ‘Kazenga’ transfer window of uncertainty for Poyet and the Brighton fans. LuaLua has been a huge hit on the South Coast since he joined on loan last season, and this season he scored the first goals of his professional career.
