Adam Chicken was scheduled to remain with Gillingham for a week or so more, however injury has seen him return to Brighton early whereas Chris Hughton has again reiterated his desire to send Christian Walton out on loan once more.

Chicken, who returned to Gillingham for his second loan spell with them, was due to return on 24th March but a knee problem has flared up again to cut short his time with the League 1 side after making six appearances for them.

Illness had also forced him to miss the Gills’ most recent game.

Unfortunate for Chicksen as you wouldn’t now expect him to get any further first-team football this season would you? One that Hughton’s keen to get more of this though is Walton who he is looking to send out on loan once again.

Walton’s already had loans with Bury and Plymouth Argyle this season but the Brighton boss is hopeful of sending the ‘keeper out for a third time before the loan window closes next week, telling the Argus

‘The loan window finishes on Thursday (next) and we are still looking to develop his game. He has learnt and certainly got experience from the loan periods he’s had so far. He experienced highs and lows as well, which is really good for a young goalkeeper. Certainly, if that opportunity comes again before the deadline it’s something we would look at and very much listen to.’

It’ll certainly be a move that would benefit the England U21 international wouldn’t it, with him not only behind first choice David Stockdale but also Finland ‘keeper Niki Maenpaa at the moment.
