Craig Mackail-Smith has fixed himself up with a new club following his release by Albion at the end of last season whereas one of those, despite Chris Hughton’s constant views to the contrary, the media feel certain will leave the Amex Stadium, Lewis Dunk, continues to be linked with an exit before the start of the season.

Mackail-Smith has signed a two-year deal with Luton, whereas Dunk will reportedly complete a move to Fulham this week?

A serious Achilles injury in 2013 and 2014 derailed CMS’ career at the Amex Stadium didn’t it and he never really seemed to get back into the swing of things with Albion after this and returned to former club Peterborough for a short spell last season. Hughton brought him back into the mix after this but didn’t offer the 31-year-old a new deal with Albion.

Having training with the Hatters for most of pre-season the Scottish international has now signed a two-year deal with the League 2 side and good lick to him!

If he can get back to anything like his best form at Kenilworth Road he’ll be on fire this season and show why Albion paid some £3m, or more, from him when he came to the club from Posh a few years back.

Whereas if Get West London are right, which taking into account what the Albion boss has been saying suggests they’re not, Dunk will take his leave of Albion this week to with his move to Craven Cottage ‘set for completion this week’ by all accounts.

Would a player that featured in the full 90-minutes in the final Brighton pre-season of the summer against Sevilla then be allowed to move onto a Championship rival in the lead up to this getting underway?

I’m not going to say this is a definitive ‘no’ but I wouldn’t think so and I’m not getting too wrapped up in these latest reports, are you?
