Chris Hughton hasn’t had the chance to work with Andrew Crofts again since becoming our manager as the midfielder has been sidelined by for the best part of a year.

Hughton worked with him briefly at Norwich but hasn’t managed to do so with Brighton as he suffered a tear to the meniscus in his knee against Watford in October that ended his season, with five-months the previous one also missed because of his partial tear to his anterior cruciate ligament.

The rehab is going to plan with Hughton telling the Argus that he’s looking forward to working with him again with him of course to make his return for pre-season.

‘He’s had a really tough time. I knew him firstly at Norwich for a very short period of time and liked him then. If we are talking about characters and leader-types he is one.

‘All his rehab work has been fine. He’s not had any setbacks. The plan is for him to have a good summer and start pre-season with us. It will be good to have him back involved.’

He went onto speak about the qualities that the 30-year-old has and how his leadership qualities will also come into their own.

Crofts has been out for so long that he’ll be like a new signing for us, many of us would have forgot what he offers as it’s been so long without him. All being well it’ll be third time lucky too and this is the end of his knee, or any, injury problems!
