Centre half Lewis Dunk has said Brighton needed to show greater quality in the game against Arsenal at the weekend.

Heading to the Emirates Stadium for the tie, Brighton came out as two nil losers on the day but with chances to score falling our way, Dunk knew with a touch more quality and composure when we were in possession the game may well have turned out slightly differently.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, Dunk explained.

‘It was what we expected – they were going to pin us back and we had to defend for a lot of the game. I think we just needed to show a bit more quality on the ball when we won it back. It’s very frustrating to lose, but we were expecting a tough game and got one. We set up to counter, but that first pass needs to be made to be able to counter well. All of us weren’t making that. We were making it hard for ourselves.’

Facing off against Alexis Sanchez as he came forward, Dunk went on to say.

‘Alexis Sanchez is one of the best in the world. He’s very sharp and moves the ball so well, it’s hard to get near him. However, you`ve got to stay with him as much as you can. He showed some quality but we did okay against him. But as you can see, they had one too many quality players for us.’

With a tie against Everton at the Amex when football returns, Dunk ended by saying.

‘We’ll work hard in these two weeks during the international break. Some of the boys will go away but the rest of us will be working and ready to go when they come back. It’s been a good start. We’ve won two and drawn one. We’re around the target for where we want to be at this stage. We’ve kept improving each game and need to pick up points when we can.’
