Manager Chris Hughton has hinted that record signing Jurgen Locadia could get his first Brighton run out in our game against Coventry City this weekend in the FA Cup.

With the former PSV Eindhoven striker being sidelined when he arrived at the club with injury, he has since returned to fitness and training and he was on the bench at the weekend in the game against Stoke City but he remained unused.

With Hughton meeting with the media today to preview the week ahead, the subject of Locadia and a potential bow featured in the questions and he told the Official Site that as things stood, he would come into his thoughts for the weekend.

‘At this moment the FA Cup, would be my thinking. He has been out for about six weeks but he has trained since last Thursday and I`d say he`s certainly done enough to be on the bench. But we also have Glenn Murray at the moment who is in good form and it’s good to have those options.’

The FA Cup is a last 16 tie and Hughton was welcoming of the break from the Premier League and he repeated fighting on two fronts wasn’t a distraction for the side, it was a bonus and allowed him to share around game time to everyone’s benefit.

‘It’s not a distraction and we’re delighted to be in the Cup. We’ve got a very competitive squad at the moment. Our bench is probably as strong as it’s been and it’s a really good opportunity to use the squad. It’s a competition we definitely want to go through in. We will need that competitiveness right the way through to the end of the season.’
