Brighton have confirmed the exit – and return to Spain – of Jack Harper who has penned a permanent contract with La Liga side Malaga.

The Malaga-born former Scottish U19 international joined Brighton from Real Madrid in 2015 but hasn’t been able to force himself into Chris Hughton’s first team at Albion.

Following his exit his U23 coach – a level he made 25 appearances at and scored two goals – Simon Rusk told the Official Website.

‘Jack’s been a pleasure to work with, but despite his best efforts, he has struggled to break through into an extremely competitive first-team group.’

Adding this return to Spain – and familiarity he’s use to – will give the 20 year old a chance to get his career back on track.

‘This move back to Spain gives him the opportunity to reignite his career. I would like to thank Jack for his hard work and to wish him well for the future on behalf of everyone at our club.’

The fee involved for Harper wasn’t revealed merely listed as undisclosed.
