Vicente’s Albion career may have life in it yet – depending on how the managerial situation pans out.

The former Spain international would be open to extending his stay on the south coast to a third season, providing Gus Poyet departs the club this summer, report the Argus.

After another campaign marked by mysterious and often unexplained injuries, with Seagulls fans relishing the intermittent brilliance that the Spaniard produced on the pitch, it looked as though his time at the Amex was to end on a sour note.

Vicente let loose on suspended boss Poyet following his release in the dramatic week that proceeded the Seagulls’ play-off defeat, claiming the Uruguayan was the “worst person I’ve come across in football”.

However, the club may be ready to offer the 31-year-old a route back, should the current internal investigations concerning Poyet result in a swift managerial switchover.
