Friendly – A Nice Win For Brighton Behind Closed Doors

|

Brighton and Hove Albion took a 1-0 victory over OGC Nice in a behind closed doors friendly yesterday during our stay out in the south of France.

With the Premier League kick-off nearing, a second-half Viktor Gyokeres effort saw us take victory and fans will be delighted to know that Florin Andone and Alireza Jahanbakhsh made their non-competitive debuts for the club following their arrivals earlier in the summer. The pair only got the first 45 minutes as they build themselves up, and manager Chris Hughton did state following the game that both were doubts for our league opener given the minutes they will have by then, but that was probably to be expected in fairness.

We now head towards our final pre-season game of the summer against FC Nantes this coming Friday back at the Amex Stadium.

As for the game, Hughton used the match as fully as he could from the perspective of match minutes as seven changes were made at the halftime break to get another good 45 minutes into a number of legs.

Brighton:

Ryan (Button 45), Schelotto (White 45), Duffy (Propper 45), Balogun, Bong, March (Suttner 45), Kayal (Gross 75), Bissouma (Stephens 63), Jahanbakhsh (Bernardo 45), Andone (Murray 45), Hemed (Gyokeres 45 – replaced by Knockaert on 75).

Reacting to the final result on social media it seems some fans wanted to have a little bit of fun more than anything else.
