This afternoon’s opening pre season friendly of the 2015-16 season ending in emphatic victory for manager Chris Hughton and the side.

The Geneva based friendly against Swiss Third Division side was a good run out and will have done wonders for the confidence of the players at this early stage of the season, and it was a comprehensive and comfortable win that saw us take the lead through new signing Tomer Hemed after only three minutes.

We went into the half time break four goals to the good, with Meyrin having grabbed their consolation in the 12th minute and the second half saw us wrap the game up properly.

Hughton took the opportunity to play two different sides in each half to maximise match minutes in players to bring their fitness and sharpness on that little bit more and he’d have been no doubt pleased with what he saw from both groups on show over the course of the 90 minutes.

A mix of debutants, known players and youngsters certainly kicked off the pre season campaign in good style and we did see the return of Sam Baldock as well although the worry would be the ten minute substitution of Gordon Greer and we are awaiting confirmation on any possible injury although it was said at the time that it was likely just a precautionary move and we’ll have to hope that proves true.

Albion first half:

Stockdale, Bruno, Greer (White 10), Rea, Chicksen, March, Ince, Kayal, Starkey, Baldock, Hemed.

Albion second half:

Walton, Rosenior, Rea, Dunk, Bong, Tilley, Calderon, Holla, LuaLua, Colunga, O’Grady.

Goals – Hemed (3), Ince (29), Bruno (35), Starkey (40), Tilley (57), O’Grady (73).
