Brighton came from behind to record a win at Gillingham on Wednesday in the penultimate friendly ahead of the curtain raiser in the Championship.

Albion, fielding some senior will be first-team players, also had some Development Squad players mixed in by Chris Hughton too with a two-one secured at Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium, of course a temporary home to the Seagulls once, thanks to one of those Development players who scored the winner.

Following a goalless first half it was Gillingham who went ahead through Dack, who scored two-minutes into this second half.

It wasn’t a deficit that Albion had to contend with for long with Stephens, with his second goal of pre-season, levelling it up 10-minutes later with Development duo Ward and Kandi combining with the latter scoring what proved to be the winner.

Brighton XI: Maenpaa; Rosenior (Holla 46), Greer (Rea 64), Dallison(Barclay 83), Chicksen; Calderon (Hunt 64), Ince, Stephens (Ward 64), Forster-Caskey (Kandi 64); Colunga (Monakana 46), O’Grady (Akindayini 64).
Subs: Ankergren.

One of the many summer signings Hughton has so far brought to the Amex Stadium was Finnish international ‘keeper Maenpaa, he got his first 90-minutes for Albion under his belt with Greer back from injury to play 64-minutes.

Scottish international Greer has since been confirmed as the Albion captain for the 2015/16 season.

Crofts, who had been out for nine-months, didn’t make his return as had been mentioned he could for Brighton on Wednesday, however he’s been named in the U21 side that takes on the Nike Academy this lunchtime.

The future of Colunga with Albion still remains unclear but he could have had a goal, and given Brighton a first half lead if it wasn’t for the crossbar with Gills striker Norris also denied by the frame of the goal when he hit the post.
