Israeli international midfielder Beram Kayal has spoken of his delight at playing a telling part in his comeback game against MK Dons at the weekend.
The 28 year old last featured for Brighton back at the end of September in the game against Barnsley and it’s been a long road back to fitness following his injury, so making his return as part of eleven changes for the FA Cup third round tie against MK Dons last Saturday would’ve been pleasing enough.
Helping himself to the opening goal on the day and grabbing an assist for the second by Tomer Hemed obviously delighted him.
Speaking to the Official Site in his own post game press conference following the two nil win, Kayal knew he couldn’t have returned in a better fashion really.
‘I`m happy to be back playing after a long time out injured. The rehab went well, I`m back now and I was happy to play my first game. The goal helped me take more confidence. Everyone played well and we controlled the game from the beginning until the end. We were the better team, deserved the victory and I`m happy for the lads who needed a game; it was great to be back playing football.’
With compatriot Hemed getting the second after he set him up and registering his tenth goal of the campaign, Kayal was obviously pleased with that as well – especially as it killed the tie off.
‘The game is always still alive at 1-0, so we needed the second goal to make the game more quiet and relaxing for us. I`m happy that Tomer scored again and that I got the assist. It was a great win for us and I`m looking forward to the next round. Everyone knows that I and Tomer are great friends, but we are with everyone and hopefully I can give an assist for someone else in the next game.’
As for his ankle injury itself, he went on to end his interview by saying that he had recovered from the problem slightly quicker than originally anticipated, so he’s looking forward to playing his part in the second half of the campaign again now given where we sit in the table, and he felt Liam Rosenior would be another boost with his return from injury as well.
‘I`m back a little bit earlier, as everyone thought I`d be out for 12 weeks, but I`m back after nine. I`m enjoying being back playing for this club again. We enjoy the competition. I`m happy for the lads because they`ve kept on winning and gone top of the league. It`s made my job easier for when I come back. Hopefully I and Liam Rosenior, who has also come back from injury, can help the team push on and go up this season.’
