Connor Goldson has said that for him the battling qualities shown by Brighton in the one nil victory over Blackburn Rovers shows the spirit within the camp, given the run the club have been on of late.

With Bobby Zamora’s early strike in the game proving to be enough to return to winning ways, Goldson was pleased with the overall performance of the team, especially as he knows we can take a lot of satisfaction from keeping the clean sheet again.

Speaking to the Official Site in his own post game press interviews, Goldson explained that obviously the dressing room was buzzing at the full time whistle with us bringing an end to eight matches without a win.

‘We`ve had a tough month and a few bad results, but we dug in and showed that the team spirit in the dressing room is as good as ever. It`s not just us, we all take satisfaction from it (clean sheet) and we all take a lot of credit. We said at half-time that a clean sheet wins us the game. Every team will have a period where they have some sticky results – there won`t be one team that doesn`t. Hopefully we`ve turned the page and can go on another run now that those games are behind us. We`ve got our first win and hopefully there are plenty of good times ahead.’

Slotting into defence along side Lewis Dunk, the 23 year old also had immense praise for him and for Bruno following the game.

‘He (Dunk) was brilliant; he showed today why he`s such a good defender and footballer. When he has to dig in and show the other side of his game, he can do that. I`m really happy for him. Playing with Bruno is unbelievable. Playing next to him is nice and makes my job a lot easier. They`ve both got great experience and are both great players.’

With three successive games on our travels, Goldson went on to say it was vitally important we kept a good home record as we go for promotion this year and that brings us to next Saturday’s game against Huddersfield Town at the Amex.

‘If you want to be up there in the league, then you need to make your home ground hard to come to and win a lot of your games there; hopefully we can do that. We`ve got three home games now starting with the Huddersfield one and hopefully we can take three points there and move on to the next one. We all know that there`s good competition for places and if we`re not performing well enough individually, then there are others that can come in and take our places. On an individual basis, it`s about me playing as well as I can when I get a chance.’
