Having lost out to Liverpool at the weekend in a 1-0 defeat, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Leon Balogun took to social media following the match to speak about the mixed feelings he had on the result.
Heading to Anfield for the game on Saturday, Mohamed Salah’s first-half goal settled the tie and clearly the hosts dominated the match in terms of possession, but manager Chris Hughton’s game plan was sensible and it was about frustrating them and for large parts of the match we did just that and had we come out with a point we’d have won praise for an organised and disciplined showing.
Following Balogun’s tweet.
Mixed feelings after what I think has been a great team performance at Anfield Road. Can’t deny a sense of disappointment. We keep our heads high and go on to the next one ????????#LFCBHA #PremierLeague pic.twitter.com/1zp4VNNRRR

In some ways that largely happened as there were a few Liverpool fans who took the time to praise Brighton for almost doing just that and the majority of fans were happy to echo Hughton’s post-game words where he explained he knew it was an opportunity, but we fell just minorly short.
Great team and individual performance-from a Liverpool fan!

Anti football?@manlikeaegon I’d say anti football is appearing to support 5 different teams according to your timeline.
Of course Brighton played to stop them scoring again and hit them on the counter, that’s how teams at our level play against title contenders away from home.

You had a great performance @LeonBalogun, but we are #liverpool we needed all the 3points. We will support you and #Brighton as we did for you against #ManU last week in your other games.

42 years of supporting Albion one of the best (but obviously not THE best) performances at Anfield against a very strong Liverpool team.

Win as a team, lose as a team. Decisions on the pitch are made in milliseconds, some work out, some don’t. Against a team who have loads of experience and genuine league winner potential you all played a massive game. Stay strong and believe. #bhafc

You played a big part in a very good performance against a team that will be strong contenders for the Premier League title, keep up the good work.????????????????

That’s only a small selection of the comments in his and Brighton’s favour, if we continue to perform like that though games will go in our favour when we’re not facing the top of the table sides and we’ll continue to nick the odd match in the process ala Manchester United when things in front of the net click better.
