Brighton captain Gordon Greer’s had a frustrating time on and off this year with injuries hampering the Scottish international at times.

Having been forced off against Meyrin during our visit to the Swiss Alps some nine-days ago, or so, he’s missed the friendlies with Southampton and Lewes since with him looking likely to sit out the next two as well?

Chris Hughton’s told the Argus his initially report precautionary withdrawal against the Swiss side, with an adductor problem, is taking ‘a little longer’ than planned to recover from.

But Hughton’s not overly concerned about the issue though and expects him back within a week or so.

‘It was determined a couple of days later it would take a little bit longer.

‘We need to make sure because of the area where it is. But we are very confident he will be fine.

‘We hope he will be available in a week, a week and a bit probably.’

This will leave Greer playing catch up though with him set to miss the friendlies with Crawley and Aberdeen as a result.

As well as this injury Hughton went onto talk about the squad and how he feels the ‘work in progress’ will be the finished article, or thereabouts, by the time the season begins.

Hughton feels the recruitment is going along nicely, some are taking longer than planned but ultimately he added he was confident we’ll ‘bring in the numbers we want.’
