Brighton were beaten three-nil by Middlesbrough in the Championship on Saturday as Albion went into Christmas with the disappointment of not only a defeat but a crushing defeat behind them.

Middlesbrough took just four-minutes to go ahead when Kike headed home early on with Albert Adomah, who created the opener, getting the final touch to a Daniel Ayala header on half time to leave Brighton with a mountain to climb at half time.

Against such a mean defence, such as Boro’s, this was always unlikely with Cristhian Stuani heading home from another corner just past the hour to make absolutely sure.

The above video shows the highlights from this game at the Amex Stadium as the 21-match unbeaten start to the season Brighton had been on (and would have wanted to extend into Christmas) was ended with Middlesbrough opening up a three-point gap over Albion who lost second spot to Derby who won later in the day.
