Manager Chris Hughton has said he was delighted with the test posed to Brighton in the final friendly of the summer against Lazio earlier today, but speaking to the media following the full time whistle he admitted he was puzzled by their winner and would be speaking to the referee about it.

Brighton:

Stockdale, Rosenior, Bruno (c) (White 81), Dunk, Bong, Knockaert (Manu 81), Stephens (Ince 45), Kayal, Murphy (Skalak 45), Murray, Hemed (Baldock 60).

Subs not used:

Maenpaa (GK), Hunt, Adekugbe, Holla.

Lazio:

Berisha, Hoedt, de Vrij, Kishna, Basta, Djordjevic, Morrison, Lulic, Milinkovic, Onazi, Radu.

Subs:

Vargic, Gabarron, Cataldi, Lukaku, Lombardi, Dos Santos, Prce, Oikonomidis, Murgia, Germoni.

Att: 9,780.

Speaking to the Argus after the game, Hughton explained that he would be seeking a clarification of the offside rule given how their goal played out.

‘It was a difficult goal we conceded. We will speak to the referee about it because it is something we perhaps need to know. I thought probably on the balance of play we had the better chances. It’s disappointing that we didn’t score. But certainly it was the level of game that we wanted.’

No doubt there will be more from Hughton later this evening or early tomorrow morning in terms of a game reaction.
