Manager Chris Hughton has played down an injury scare to goalkeeper David Stockdale.

The stopper has not been on Brighton’s pre season training camp in Tenerife as he suffered a set back following toe surgery, and with speculation mounting that the injury is worse than feared, Hughton has been speaking to the Argus to allay fears of it being a long term problem for our Number 1.

‘He had a very minor op on his toe which was going to be okay. Unfortunately he had a little problem with the wound so we’ve left him behind. It shouldn’t be any problem, but it has put him back a week or more.’

I doubt it’ll be long before our Championship ever present last season is fit and raring to go once more.

This season of course, following his arrival from Fulham two season’s ago, will see him pass the 100 appearance milestone for Brighton, and his own 300 career appearance milestone.

You would imagine if the problem is that minor, Stockdale could well be back in contention for the first of the pre season friendly games we have arranged, beginning with Crawley Town next Saturday.
