Brighton’s unbeaten run across the month of February has seen Chris Hughton awarded the Premier League Manager of the Month award for February.

The 59 year old lifts the gong for the first time having seen Brighton take victories over West Ham United and Swansea City, as well as a draw with Stoke City.

Having spent time with Newcastle United and Norwich City during his managerial career, he has now managed 121 matches in the top flight and he also becomes the first Brighton gaffer to win a Premier League award in their debut season on the competition.

Speaking to PremierLeague.com Hughton explained.

‘It’s a wonderful achievement for the club and certainly for a group of players that have improved as the season has gone on and knowing that we’ve still got a lot of work to do. I have wonderful medical staff and coaching staff. We’re thankful to a lot of people but, of course, it’s the players, the players have enjoyed being in this division so far and are desperate to make sure that we stay there.’

Hughton won out against Watford’s Javi Gracia, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino and Huddersfield Town’s David Wagner.
