Following today’s clash between West Bromwich Albion and Brighton, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

West Bromwich Albion hosted Brighton at The Hawthorns on Saturday January 13, with the hosts taking a two nil victory.

West Brom scored in each half through Jonny Evans and Craig Dawson to take all three points and in the process end their 20 match winless streak in the Premier League.

Brighton however now make it six matches without a win.

West Brom:

Foster, Dawson (Nyom 81), Evans (McAuley 84), Hegazi, Gibbs, Phillips, Barry, Krychowiak, Brunt, Rodriguez (Livermore 79), Rondon.

Robson-Kanu, Yacob, Myhill, McClean.

Ryan, Bruno, Duffy, Dunk, Bong, Knockaert, Stephens, Propper (Kayal 76), Izquierdo (March 45), Gross (Baldock 66), Murray.

Hemed, Goldson, Schelotto, Krul.

Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Martin Atkinson blew the final whistle, West Brom head coach Alan Pardew explained.

‘I have waited a long time to win a Premier League game here. We kept doing the right things and got our rewards. The players have responded well since we got in. We are a big side and good at set-plays but maybe lost that. So we focused on that this week. They were two well executed goals from corners. We were also good in terms of stopping them playing.’

Brighton manager Chris Hughton in his comparative interview explained.

‘It is hugely disappointing because there was not lot a between the two teams. We have worked hard on defending set-plays and the first goal really hurt us. If they don’t get that early goal we are really in it. We got into a lot of good areas but haven’t worked the goalkeeper enough. We have to be more productive in the final third.’
