In a strange few days with Brighton, which saw the unbeaten Championship run extended with Albion flying high in the league but also saw us crash out of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday when a lead was lost to Walsall in this two-one defeat, we had the Lewis Dunk news!

Sandwiched between these games came the news Dunk was fined two-weeks wages recently for ‘refusing to play’ in the League Cup first round win at Southend, the Argus reported this in the wake of another £5m offer from Fulham being rejected, only for him then to agree to a new five-year deal….

Most strange!

In other Albion news, more positive which follows on from that great Dunk deal, and before the Walsall disappointment, were the international call ups that were given, with them all confirmed on the Official Website.

Called up once again by Scotland was Brighton captain Gordon Greer.

He’ll be looking for some involvement in the Euro 2016 qualifiers with Georgia and Germany, and would hope to add to his eight caps so far, as the Scots look to move a step closer to going to France next summer, in what you feel could be the defender’s international swansong with his national side perhaps?

Albion have three players in the England U21 squad with Gareth Southgate naming ‘keeper Christian Walton, of course on loan with Bury at the moment, Jake Forster-Caskey and Solly March in the squad for the friendly with the USA and European Championship qualifier against Norway.

Republic of Ireland recognition, at least a call up, has come for Glen Rea too with him called into the U21 squad for the friendly against Qatar and the European Championship qualifier with Andorra.

Good luck to them all, however the most important thing is they return from this international break, Walton aside as he’ll be back at Gigg Lane, fully fit and ready for action with Albion!
