With Brighton now sitting seven points clear of the dropzone following the midweek fixtures, Kayal said that the players knew there was enough quality to end the season strongly but they needed something to drop for them in a game.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the former Celtic star explained.

‘Every point is important, especially in the situation we`re in right now. There were moments last night where we played well and looked dangerous, but if you`re not scoring then you put pressure on yourself. But we`ll take the point and move on to the next game.’

Kayal goes on to say that it’s important the players stick together because individually they all know they are much better than our league position and our form dictates at the moment and the only way to get through it is by continuing to be positive and have belief.

What they can’t do is crumble and just focus on the negatives or on what we aren’t doing well at the moment because then doubts would just fester.

‘It is vital that we work as a group and giving everything in our remaining three games. I`m not sure if we`re going to win all three of our remaining league games but we believe that we’re not going to lose all three either. We know the other team Millwall have one game in hand, so they have four games remaining. We will see who`s going to secure more points in this race.’

With Kayal being a more defensive minded midfielder in his approach, he also talked about manager Chris Hughton saying he has the technique to make things happen further up the pitch, it’s just about timing it right and against Huddersfield he did feel he got into some good advanced positions so he’s hoping that can pay off in the future as it is a role he’s been adjusting to in recent games.

‘The gaffer said I have the skills and the speed to play further forward, so I try to prove myself there. I always do my best with everything that the gaffer wants me to do. It`s a shame we didn`t score any goals last night, but in the end we`ll take a draw, the clean sheet and we`ll keep going.’
