Brighton & Hove Albion winger Anthony Knockaert has been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for April.

Knockaert provided invention and spark to a Brighton attack which scored 18 goals in six April games.

A livewire who loves to take on and beat defenders, he had four assists and four goals, which included a lovely curling finish against Fulham.

Knockaert said: “I feel very happy and it`s the first one as well for me, so it`s a privilege to win this trophy.

“It shows how hard I work for the team, but I couldn`t have done this without my teammates so I have to say thank you to them too because they helped me so much.

“It`s all about the team spirit, I have settled in very quickly here. Life is just incredible for me here and I love playing for Brighton.”

Sky Sports` Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Knockaert`s impact at Brighton has been sensational.

“The French winger has a habit of putting himself in the spotlight at the end of the Football League season and famously won, then missed the penalty against Watford in the Play-Off semi-final in 2013.

“He was a crucial part of Leicester City`s promotion the following year and were it not for the arrival of Player of the year Riyad Mahrez, so highly do I rate him that I`m sure he would have been starring in the Premier League this season.”

Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “It`s no surprise to me that Knockaert has had a huge role in Brighton`s success this season; he was equally as stunning in Leicester`s promotion winning season of 2013/14.

“Already one of the most skillful and creative players in the league the thing that he added to his game in April was goals; four of them to be precise including his first two goal outing since January 2013.

“That came against QPR at odds of 16/1 in the midst of a tremendous winning run for Brighton which will have Knockaert dreaming of the chance to showcase his talents on an even bigger stage next season.”
