Brighton’s appeal over the red card shown to Jamie Murphy in the game last week against Bolton Wanderers has not been upheld.

Audio – Hughton On Unsuccessful Appeal

Manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that our appeal to have the red card rescinded was not successful and had been rejected by the FA’s regulatory commission.

Having reviewed footage of the incident and our appeal based on wrongful dismissal, the panel which included a former player, manager and referee all dismissed the appeal individually and upheld the decision by referee Mark Haywood.

Murphy will therefore now miss the games against Cardiff City, Leeds United and Bristol Rovers.
