Brighton have tonight confirmed that capture of former Sheffield United winger Jamie Murphy.

The 25 year old comes into us on a four year deal after passing his medical at the Elite Football Performance Centre earlier today after an undisclosed bid was accepted.

Speaking to the Official Site as the capture was confirmed, manager Chris Hughton explained.

‘We are really pleased to welcome Jamie to the club. He is somebody we monitored very closely last season and he was one of Sheffield United’s most influential and creative players. He’s a winger who can play on either flank and he will give us extra options in both wide positions. He’s a very good age, an age where he can continue to develop as a player and build on his experience.’

The player has more than 200 games under his belt in professional football and has scored more than 60 goals in his career as well.

The former Scottish under 21 international since joining Sheffield United has played his part in helping them into the Play Offs twice and his former club have confirmed that they rejected a number of offers for him this summer but he expressed a desire to see this deal go through once he knew of it, so clearly he wanted to make the move and hopefully it will work out well.

He will be eligible for his debut when we face Huddersfield Town.
