Jamie Murphy has now completed his speculated move to Scotland and Rangers.

With the move coming to fruition at the tail end of last week, over the weekend Brighton confirmed that the 28 year old had made the move to Ibrox but initially it’s on a loan basis, but there is an expectation it’ll be made permanent over the summer.

The player arrived as one of ten signings during 2015 from Sheffield United and he was part of the squad that went close to promotion and then actually clinched it last season.

With opportunities restricted this year he has made only four Premier League appearances and speaking to the Official Site manager Chris Hughton explained.

‘Jamie is a great lad, a fantastic professional and has a desire to play – and while we were in no hurry to see him leave, we do understand his desire to play for his boyhood team and one of the biggest clubs in Scotland. He`s been excellent for the club, ever since we signed him from Sheffield United, and wrote himself into club folklore as a crucial part of our promotion-winning side last season.’

He added.

‘On behalf of all at the club, I`d like to thank Jamie for his efforts and achievements during his time here and wish him the very best for the future.’

Murphy leaves having made 57 starting appearances with a further 26 from the bench. Those games saw him contribute ten goals.
